In late 2016 and early 2017, Soyka & Company’s President, Peter Soyka, served as a subject matter expert in a project to develop strategies for increasing disaster resilience in West Virginia. He devised a multi-step process to convene stakeholder dialogs to elicit issues, concerns, approaches, and potential solutions. Mr. Soyka also played lead role in a facilitated dialog with approximately 20 state government, NGO, and local government officials to elicit potential steps forward. Using this input, he then developed a recommended framework and specific actions steps to further develop and pilot test approaches for reducing the prevalence and severity of impacts from floods and other natural disasters.
